As I have done with my 40k armies, here is a group shot of the Trolls I have got fully painted so far. I only started these guys in 2012 and so far I am pretty happy with how they are turning out.
The few units I have that need to get painted next year to complete the horde is a unit of Pyg Burrowers, Dire Troll Mauler, Dire Troll Bomber, Pyre Troll and Calandra Truthsayer.
Happy New Year everybody!

Current State of the Army... Space Wolves
As I have done with both my Chaos Space Marines and Dark Eldar, here is a look at what I have in fully painted Space Wolves.
Easily the largest army I have (probably totalling 5,000pts +), I only have a few models left to paint to completely finish the Wolves. Models outstanding and will be finished in 2013 are 9 Terminators (4 of which are magnetised, which also means there are a pile of arms and weapons to paint as well), 5 sniper Scouts and an Iron Wolf.
As the army is so huge and the pic above is quite blurry and unfocused, here are more shots of the army -

Dark Angels Chaplain-Interrogator Seraphicus
Finished this guy on Christmas Eve and have only just got around to posting up the pictures I took of the model of Seraphicus, the Dark Angels Chaplain-Interrogator from the Dark Vengeance box set.
A cracking model to paint, although not as much detail on there as on the Chaos models from the same box set.
Continuing the theme of 'firsts' for the end of the year, this guy is the first Dark Angel I have ever painted and I am pretty pleased with how he has turned out.
Now for a shameless plug - I am planning on selling off the model, as seen in the pics on this post along with the data card from the DV box. If anyone is interested and wants to make an offer please email me on the contact details in the Contact Me section of the site. And now, here are the remaining pictures -
As always, comments are very much appreciated and I hope everyone has had an awesome Christmas so far!

Winner of a Lictor 2012
The only downside to this competition is that there can only be one winner and one winner alone. Much like the gaming side of 40k, the winner would need a good bit of luck to be drawn out of the hat as the victor.
Aided by my beautiful wife (in lieu of a gorgeous assistant) the draw was made earlier on today and I am pleased to inform Jacob Dillon that he is the lucky fella who gets to home a Lictor for 2012.
So, Jacob, please drop me an email and we can arrange sending the Tyranid beast out to you as soon as Christmas is over.
Thanks to everyone who entered and please keep your eyes peeled for more competitions appearing in the Immaterium in the future, as I am sure there will be a few.
And with that, I bid you all a Merry Christmas and hope Santa brings you all you desire, assuming you have all been good through the rest of the last year!

Final Chance to Enter and Win a Tyranid
The final 24 hrs now for the chance to win the Tyranid Lictor I painted for the blog a few weeks back!
You can see the original post here, which shows you what you could win if you follow the blog and leave a comment on any of the competition posts I have put up over the last few weeks.
The most important thing is to leave a comment as I do not seem to be able to see who my followers are (I just like to see the number of followers increasing!).
The final cut off is 19.00hrs on the 23rd December, with the winner announced at the same time on the 24th December. Good luck to all and I would like to wish everyone reading this post a very merry Christmas!

WIP Chaplain-Interrogator Seraphicus
Just a quick update on the progress I have made on my current project, Chaplain-Interrogator Seraphicus of the Dark Angels. All areas on the model have been base coated and now it is time to add in all the details.
The aim is to finish him off before Christmas in a few days times and then it is time to send him off to a new home somewhere, to whoever wants to add him to their Dark Angels force. Please feel free to email me if you want further details.
Here are a few more pictures of the current progress -

Current State of the Army... Dark Eldar
Carrying on with my series of looking at what models I have completed for each of my armies, be that Chaos, Space Wolves or Dark Eldar, here we stand looking at the models I have completed for the Dark Eldar.
This army is going to have a strong Haemonculus feel to it eventually, with plenty of Talos Pain Engines, Grotesques, Scourges and Wracks being present in relatively large numbers and occasionally accompanied by other citizens of Comorragh .
So far this army have the following completed models - Urien Rakarth, Lelith Hesperax, Archon, 2 Grotesques, 5 Mandrakes, Beastmaster and Clawed Fiend.
2013 will see the Grotesques and Pain Engines expanded, alongside all other areas of the army.

Current State of the Army... Chaos
As a marker for the future, I wanted to put up a picture of the
completed models I have for my 40k armies of Chaos, Space Wolves and
Dark Eldar.
This post looks at what I have completed, up to December 2012, of my Chaos Space Marines. Hopefully by this time next year, as well as having more Marines complete, there will be more of a daemon presence within this fledgling Emperor's Children force.
Currently complete we have Lucius the Eternal, Lord, Sorcerer, Daemon Prince, Helbrute and a Defiler. I am looking forward to completing a lot more of this army during 2013.

How to Win Your Own Tyranid
We are now rolling in to the final week of the Win A Lictor competition on the blog.
All that is required for entry is to do two things - follow this blog (if you can) and leave a comment on either this post, this post or this post.
Make sure that you do leave a comment if you want to have the chance to win the Lictor as for some reason I cannot see who is following the blog, just that the number is slowly creeping up.
Thanks to all the guys who have put their names forward so far and good luck to all those who want to enter, the winner will be announced on this blog on the 24th December.
Here's the model again for the sake of it:
Happy hunting!

How I Paint my Bone
Today I am going to tell you about how I paint all the bone on my miniatures. It is relatively straightforward and you will need the following paints (or their equivalents) -
Rhinox Hide (GW New Paints)
Filthy Brown (VGC)
Bleached Bone (VGC) or Screaming Skull (GW New Paints)
Agrax Earthshade (GW New Paints)
Coat the area you want to paint bone with the Rhinox Hide, getting a nice solid layer of colour in there.
Next we coat all the lighter surfaces with Filthy Brown, ensuring we leave the darker recesses (nose and eye sockets etc) with just Rhinox Hide covering them.
Then we use the Bleached Bone (or Screaming Skull) to make the bone area look 'whiter'. Again we avoid using the paint in the recesses.
What could be the last step, depending on how far you want to take this, is to wash over the bone with Agrax Earthshade. Let the wash dry thoroughly before you paint anything else in the bone area.
The last step now is to add on some Bleached Bone/Screaming Skull highlights. Or, if you are like me, paint the highlight into the eye socket and not notice until later while looking at the pictures you have taken.
Simple and straightforward, but as the last picture shows, you have to always take care not to put your highlight where you do not want it. I will correct that when I post up pictures of the completed model toward the end of the month.
Hope the How To is helpful, thanks for reading! Any questions or comments please feel free to leave them below.

Chaos Lord Completed
Here is the first Marine model I have completed from the Dark Vengeance boxset, the Chaos Lord known as Kranon the Relentless. This guy won't be filling the role of the Crimson Slaughters Lord, but will instead be used in my Emperor's Children warband, leading them in my many battles against the other forces of the galaxy.
Not a lot else to say, so please enjoy the rest of the pictures of this guy and thanks for looking!

Start Your Own Tyranid Army...
We are now entering the festive period here in the UK and what better way to begin the celebrations than giving everyone reading this blog the chance to win the Tyranid Lictor model I have recently finished painting.
Have you ever wanted to start a Tyranid army but have not got round to it? Maybe you want to expand your current Tyranid fleet? Or maybe you just like the model and fancy having it around? What ever you feel, this is your chance to have the model for free! I say free, there are just a couple of catches though.
All you have to do is, very simply, become a follower of this blog and comment on this post. Then the weekend before Christmas, I will randomly select one person from the followers/commenters and will contact them about receiving the Lictor model as you see it now.
Here are some more photos so you can see what is up for grabs:
So if you fancy giving a Lictor a home for this Christmas period, please get following and commenting and you'll be in with a chance of winning this fella!

Nearing the End... Tyranid Lictor
Very nearly finished the work on the Tyranid Lictor I am currently working on and thought I would pop up a quick post as I am unsure over a couple of things and was hoping someone, somewhere would have an idea for me!
Firstly the monsters eyes - currently a deep purple. Not sure it looks right, but don't know what else would look any better.
Second thing - I have a couple of skeleton warriors spare, I am thinking of chopping them up and leaving a mess of bloody skeleton on this guys base. Do I also add copious amounts of gore to the model as well?
Here are the rest of the pictures of the current state of the Lictor:

Hiding in the Bushes...
Just a quick post to show the progress I have made with painting up the one and only Tyranid model I own - the Lictor.
As I have no intentions of starting a Tyranid force I am only painting this guy up for fun. In fact, he's been in a draw for the last year!
Once it's complete, he will be looking for a new home somewhere he can see a bit of action. Anybody interested can give me a shout through the email address in the Contact Me section.
Anyway, see below for the remaining pictures, more to follow once he is finished (hopefully in the next few days or so!)

Astorath the Grim - Redeemer of the Lost
As any regular visitors will have noticed, I have currently done a series of posts on how I paint various aspects of my models, including faces, scrollwork, jump pack flames and power weapons and that it was from the same model that each of these were taken - Astorath the Grim, Redeemer of the Lost for the Blood Angels.
Now all those tutorials are complete, the model itself is also complete as well. In fact he even got used against me today (killed my Chaos Lord, got killed by my Daemon Prince).
Anyway, I loved painting this guy, even though the metal version that he is really did not like staying upright on that tiny 25mm base!
Enjoy the rest of the pictures folks, here they are:
