My mini squad of Mandrakes are finally complete and ready to stalk the shadows for prey.
It will be interesting to see how the new rules will affect this unit, as in 5th Edition they did have a few problems. I shall have to look up what AP value the evil looking blade gets and hope that a combination of night-fighting first turn and the Mandrakes stealth will ensure they survive long enough in to turn two to get a sneaky assault on (also assuming they survive overwatch shots).
Work is still on going with the Archon I started alongside these guys, but for progress on him please take a quick look in the 'On the Painting Table' tab at the top of the page.

Their weapons have no AP in 6th edition, being just standard close combat weapons. As such they have not really changed from 5th, and hence have the same problems. In fact they have been made a little less effective in 6th, since now the rules of infiltrate do not permit an infiltrating unit to charge in the first turn! You can no longer charge when you arrive from reserves, meaning that their outflank ability is also scuppered.
ReplyDeleteI love these models and really want to use them, but I cant see why a Dark Eldar player would take them. If they were able to shoot from the outset then they would be useful infiltrators.
Same argument applies to infiltrating genestealers.
