The updates on the blog have pretty much disappeared through August, so I am going to make every effort of the next couple of months to keep the updates flowing, starting with this quick update on the Keeper of Secrets I was starting to put together.
Following some suggestions on the blog, I have clipped off the little claws of the tail section and that is, unfortunately, as far as I have gotten with the Daemon. Next up is fixing on his arms/head - arms from the Daemon Prince box and the head from the original Keeper of Secrets.
I have also included a couple of pictures of the KoS that I am building next to the current model for the Greater Daemon, and then a shot of both next to a Daemon Prince - who'd have thought a Daemon Prince and the Greater Daemon of Slaanesh would be identical in height?
As always, all comments very much appreciated and all suggestions welcome. Thanks for looking!

Fulgrim
Having recently been given the Forgeworld sculpt of Fulgrim as a present (thanks again Ian), I have cleared everything from my schedule to begin working on him.
As you may have noticed, there hasn't been an update on the blog for a while. This is mainly down to it being far too warm to sit in my little man cave painting away. Now the summer is cooling down and I have this awesome model in my hands, the autumn period looks like it will be full of various painting projects that I have lined up, this being the first.
The sculpt itself is absolutely brilliant, so much detail and relatively intuitive to put together. For the sake of painting the model I am planning on leaving the Primarch detached from his base until both are complete before fixing them together.
Only got a couple of shots of this guy so far, as there isn't too much to see on the resin model, but more pictures will follow when the paint starts flowing. So until then, here are the other two pictures I have of him and the base. Thanks for looking!

Build-Your-Own Chaos Daemons
Monstrous creatures need to huge, terrifying and, well, monstrous. With that particular design brief in my mind I set out to create something so horrendous it could only have come from the Warp. This my friends, is the beginning of my vision for what a Keeper of Secrets, the Greater Daemon of Slaanesh, may indeed look like.
Once the model is made I will show you how it compares in size to the current Keeper of Secrets (available from all good Games Workshop stores). To give you an idea though, the current model reaches up to as high as this guys waist.
The first picture here shows the model in the early stages before I went a bit crazy adding on several claws.
Once all the arms have been added on (two more pairs on the main body, one arm holding a sword and three arms with open hands) all that is left is fixing a head to the monster.
The head in question is one left over from the Keeper of Secrets box. I am a little unsure as to whether it is a little bit too small, given the size of the body, or whether it will actually look ok. I am tempted to just put it all together and see what the end result is before making any decision.
I am also starting to question whether this demi-god of the Chaos worlds really needs 6 pairs of arms. Or maybe he/she/it does?
As the other update for this post is the Herald of Slaanesh I have also built. In giving it a tail, it is supposed to represent it having a steed to ride in to battle so that it can join with my Seeker squad when necessary.
Pictures are below, thanks for looking and hope to see you dropping by again!

WIP Chaos Lord... A Little Bit More
Just a quick update today on the Chaos Lord in terminator armour that I started a few weeks back.
I have added in a greenstuff cloak and mounted him on his base.
The front spike on his right hand side is also incredibly fragile, so unless someone has a suggestion on how I can strengthen it, I may have to snap it off and make it look like battle damage.
Outside of that, not a lot else to say more about this chap, so enjoy the remaining photos and thanks for looking!

Custom Built Maulerfiend Complete
You have all seen and heard about the flying hell chicken of Chaos. Now I give you all the tentacled murderous crab-turtle of Chaos - my own version of the Maulerfiend made from the bits from a few kits that I had lying around.
Looking forward to giving him a run out with my Chaos army now, I have only ever used the Forgefiend and never his Mauler brother.
Here are the rest of the pictures for you all to have a look over, thanks for looking!

Custom Building a Maulerfiend Part 2
Today I want to show you all the little bit more progress I have made on creating a Maulerfiend from the leftover bits I have from the Forgefiend box and a Defiler body I recently acquired.
Form the last post on this Daemon engine, found here, I have now added the exhaust vents on the back of the engine, using some of the Daemon Prince vents. I have also added on the tentacles (or tendrils?) on to the sides of this construction.
The top armour plate you can see in one of the pictures isn't actually fixed in place yet, I need to add some green stuff around the neck/shoulders/arms before that gets glued down!
It is also good to report that through this part of the model building process I have no safety warnings or near accidents to flash out to you guys, although it does feel a little odd doing this while wearing safety spectacles!
So, enough of the talk of my evening safety wear and on with the last picture with the tentacles in place -
Just a bit of green stuff to go now. Very much looking forward to getting stuck into this last bit of model creation. I am really chuffed with how it's turning out at the moment.
Thanks for looking and hopefully you'll drop back again to see the completed Maulerfiend over the weekend!

Custom Building a Maulerfiend WIP
I began working on a custom made Maulerfiend last night, using the main body of a Defiler along with the remnants of the Maulerfied/Forgefiend kit that was left over when I built the Forge-type a few months ago.
After cleaning all the various parts I took out my Dremel and cut off the front to arm holders on the body and then opened out the hole to fit the two Maulerfiend arms in. With this done it was then on to gluing all the legs and arms in to place, as can be seen in the picture below.
The next step of this build is to fit the neck, which will be looked at in the next post in a few days time.
A couple of other things I have learnt through the process so far - the Dremel multi-tool is an awesome bit of kit which saves a lot of time trying to cut through bits of the model. The second is more of a warning to all those using any tool to trim little bits off their models - wear glasses of some sort because if one of those little bits flies off in to your eye it could cause some pain/damage. It has never happened to me before but, if my wife hadn't been around to fish it out for me, it would've been quite painful trying to blink that out of my eye.
Enjoy yourselves folks and I'll be back with one or two more updates during the week!

They Came From Above
Probably not a new idea, but I wasn't overly happy with any of the recent models available for the Chaos Space Marine Raptors, so decided to make some up using the wings from the Possessed set, along with a few other bits from that kit, mixed them together with some other weapons and created this bunch of Raptors.
In the squad there are two basic load outs of close combat weapon/bolt pistol, 2 with meltaguns and then the Champion who is armed with a plasma pistol and what could either be a power fist or sword.
The wings also have the bonus of keeping the unit spread out, which will mean less damage from blast templates, although making it slightly harder to hide them all in/behind cover.
Anyway, got a bit more modelling to do and also got to start the draw for the winner of the Lictor as well. Thanks for looking!

WYSIWYG Chaos Troops
It took me a few days longer than I expected, but my Chaos Marine troops are now fully built and are armed as I want them to be forever more. What you see is what you get with these guys, so lets take a look at what we are getting.
First Noise Marine squad is armed with four Sonic Blasters and the Champion is sporting a Powerfist and Doom Siren.
Noise Marine squad 2 is again armed with four Sonic Blasters but this time out the Champ only has a Doom Siren on top of his normal weaponry.
Half way through the Noise Marines squads now, this squad has three Sonic Blasters and a Blastmaster. The Champion is downgraded again to just a basic loadout.
Things are changing now as this squad is kitted out for getting in close, taking down the enemy with close combat - four guys with chainswords/bolt pistols. The Champion has a Doom Siren and Powersword to accompany his bolt pistol.
Squad number 5 come as a bog standard unit with a Blastmaster.
Identical loadout to squad 5, these guys have a Blastmaster as their only additional weapon.
And finally is a squad of Thousand Sons. Basic out of the box set up, with 8 men carrying Boltguns, the Aspiring Sorceror with Bolt Pistol and Force Sword and then the banner bearer using his powers of levitation to make the burning standard float in the air behind him.
As always, thanks for looking, next post up is the Raptors I have worked on!

WIP Chaos Lord
The post today is to ask the blogging community for their thoughts on what else I can do to the Tyberos the Red Wake model to make him look more Chaos-y.
Currently there is the extra large trophy rack, coupled with a daemon prince arm guard and an additional spike on his right hand. I have covered over the Imperial eagle and I am planning on giving him a green stuff cloak, fixed to the underside of the trophy rack.
So, I am asking if anyone has any crazy suggestions to anything else I could try with this guy to suit the Slaanesh/Emperor's Children force he will be commanding.
Thanks to everyone who leaves a comment and further thanks to all those who have stopped by the blog to have a look!

The Great Build of 2013

| Keeper of Secrets |
I am pleased to see that I am now hitting the home straight, having put together 6 squads of Noise Marines, 1 squad of Thousand Sons, sorted out my Raptor squad, started on a TDA Chaos Lord and built a Keeper of Secrets.
I will be splitting the completed photos across a few posts, as there are plenty of them to go around! And once the construction is complete, then I have a hell of a lot of painting to be getting on with. Still, fully painted armies are worth it, aren't they?
Enjoy the photos and comment freely! Thanks for looking.

Unboxing Random Supplies from Ebay
I found a big lot on Ebay the other day. It was listed as various bits of Chaos Space Marines but was largely unspecific and the pictures weren't 100% clear on what was in there.
So, what is any one with an addiction to the little plastic models going to do? Ignore it? Let it pass by and go to some other unwitting fool? Or do you bid away merrily until you win your prize? You all know the answer already. The attraction to the unknown was too great. I dived in and damned the consequences to the back of my mind.
So, with the aim of justifying this splurge, this post will aim to do just that (I hope) and hopefully, if my wife asks, I can just point her to this post and show her how in spending money I have saved me some money.
The top half of the box contained a decent haul of plastic treasure, more so than I had hoped for. Included in this is the main body of a Defiler/SOul Grinder, a huge bag of Chaos bits (including Daemon Prince bits, bodies, legs and arms of Chaos Space Marines, banners, Possessed bits, generally all sorts of bits), a full 10 men Chaos Space Marine Squad, 4 Possessed Marines, 2 Genestealers, 1 Assault Marine with jet pack and an Ork of some description.
Not a bad haul so far. The Possessed will join my other 5 mutated ones and the squad will be just a plain marked squad.
The Assault Marine has made me consider adding some Sky Claws to my Wolves, but that will have to wait a while.
And then we have the body of the Defiler/Soul Grinder. The rest of the bits for the Defiler were in the rest of the box, so it would be possible to go that route. Except that I already have a Defiler and don't want another one.
So that got me thinking what could I make? I could buy the Soul Grinder bits and make that, but I'm not convinced about that. So I took a look through my own Chaos bits bag and struck on an idea - a Maulerfiend! Have you ever seen a 'fiend made from a Defiler base? Me neither, so that means it must be attempted. It will either be great or fail miserably. In my mind it is definitely the former.
So, the rest of the box contained these sprues with enough on there to create another 9 Chaos Marines. Here I will invest a little in converting the bodies to Thousand Sons. I have a force staff in the bits bag I got in this lot, so just need to make the rest look sorcery and I am away with them. Always nice to have some AP3 bolter shells firing around the table top.
I will also be putting together some Slaanesh bikers (T5, I5 high speed freaks) with a couple of boxes of the new Chaos bike squads that GW brought a couple of weekends ago.
And finally, the one bit of the box I don't think I will need and will be looking to sell on - Chaos Vehicle Accessories sprues. 4 of them. I only have one Land Raider and 1 Rhino so I can't see a use for these. They are all intact so should hopefully find their way to a useful home sooner or later.
So, all in all, not a bad haul. As a quick calculation. based on what GW would sell this as for new we get -
Maulerfiend - £40
5 Possessed Marines - £20.50
20 Chaos Space Marines - £46.00
4 Chaos Vehicle Accessories Sprues - £36.00
Total - £142.50
And hopefully I should get something back if I manage to sell off the accessories sprue. In conclusion, Ebay can be incredible for bargains sometimes. It will also keep me busy fixing up my Emperor's Children/Thousand Sons for the next few weeks. Thanks for reading!

On the Painting Table... March
A new month and a few new targets to throw my paintbrush at! I managed to clear all the previous months targets which I am pretty pleased about and now I can move on to all new models which I haven't looked at painting yet.
The first of these are the models you can see to the left here. They are in fact Terrorizers from HiTech Miniatures who I will be using as Obliterators in my Chaos Marines army. These models have an awesome amount of detail and look a whole load better than the Games Workshop version of Obliterators in my opinion.
As mentioned in my post the other day, about the Pyre Troll, I mentioned that I only had one Trollblood left to paint - the Dire Troll Mauler. And here he is, ready to be greenstuffed, fixed to the base and then painted.
It didn't take too long to paint the Bomber version of the Dire Troll, so I'm hoping I can shoot through this guy as well and have my Trollbloods fully completed this month. Well, for the moment anyway.
And now I really try to step it up on the 40k front. Hopefully I can get this unit completed to start off the Chaos Daemons detachment of my Chaos army. The Daemonettes of Slaanesh should, in theory, be straight forward to paint and only use a handful of paints and washes to get each model of the unit done. Look out for a test model for these ladies (?) soon.
Lastly, I am aiming to get the King of the Chaos Space Marines, Ezekyle Abaddon, completed and sold off to help fund the Loken and Abaddon models that have recently been released from Forgeworld. It may only get me a few quid, but it all helps doesn't it?
Also, the new Abaddon from Forge World looks incredible and who needs two Abaddons anyway?
I am also selling off a couple of excess models on Ebay if anyone is interested in that sort of thing - 2 x the OOP metal Obliterators and the metal Chaos Dreadnought with plasma cannon and forge world close combat arm.
I'm looking forward to keeping you all updated with how the paintings going throughout the month!

On the Painting Table... February
Of the four targets I had last month, I only completed the two Chaos Space Marine Chosen and the squad of Trollblood Pyg Burrowers. I was hoping to have the another two of the Chosen finished, but didn't quite manage it due to one thing or another.
As you can see in the picture above, the two Chosen are well on their way to being completed. What I have got planned for after, I hear you ask? Well, I am going to carry on with my aim of finishing off painting my Trollbloods, with Calandra Truthsayer being the next model from the faction up for a spot of colour.
I am also hoping to complete the remnants of the Chosen squad and finish off the remaining two models this month as well. I have saved my two favourite models from the Dark Vengeance box set till last, so I am quite looking forward to getting to these guys!
As I know I have quite a busy month ahead, completing just those 5 models alone would be an achievement. However, if I can get through them I have one further paint job and a modelling job that I want to get stuck in to.
The paint job is back with my Trollbloods and would see me finish off the penultimate model that I currently have, the Pyre Troll, which will take me away from painting trolls in their usual blue (for my force anyway) and look more to a burnt brown colour, which should be interesting!
The modelling job is the beginning of the making of a Keeper of Secrets for my Chaos Daemons, who will be allied with my Chaos Space Marines. The Daemons allies won't be a huge detachment and will mainly just comprise of the Greater Daemon, a Herald, a few Daemonettes and a couple of Hellflayers. I may add in a few Tzeentchian units in the future, but certainly nothing until a new codex for the Daemons is released.
So on the painting/modelling front there is certainly enough to keep me busy when I can fit it in (I think fitting a new bathroom could seriously hamper this though, but challenges are there to be defeated!).
On the gaming front I should have at least another couple of games this month and hopefully should be able to have one big Space Marines v Tyranids game (2 Space Marines v 1 Tyranid player) which should a nice, bloody punch up, which I am really excited about. Hopefully we can get that sorted and spend a day pulverising everything in sight!
Look forward to updating you all on these models as I get them done. Thanks for reading!
